There will be a Teen Medical Explorers Academy from June 20 to June 23, 2022, at WVU Parkersburg. They are accepting 20-25 students aged 13 to 18 for a week-long immersion into health care careers and fun activities with nursing and surgical technology. The students will learn standard first aid, dressings, hygiene, transferring patients, become certified in CPR, and guest speakers from different disciplines will be invited to speak. The MedFlight Helicopter is scheduled to visit one day. Students will receive a set of scrubs, a stethoscope, a cinch sac backpack, a journal, and will receive a nursing pin for completing the academy. Congratulations to the following individuals on their placement in the Young Writers Contest representing Tyler Consolidated High School. In 3rd place-Kashia Brown, 2nd place-Jacob Swartz and the winner of this years Young Writers Contest for Tyler Consolidated is Cody Jones! The Silver Knights Wrestling team claimed the runner up title this past weekend at the LKC championship. This is the highest finish for the wrestling team in team history. Total the knights had six place winners. Kaden Huffman and Trenton Huffman both claimed LKC championships, Sean Winfrey finished as runner up, Branson Winfrey finished in third place, and both Luke Yoho and Case Landis finished in fourth place. Also, Mya Anderson finished in fourth place this Saturday at the girls state championship. Congratulations to all Silver Knight wrestlers!

Four Tyler Consolidated High School Band members participated in the 42nd Annual WVU Honor Bands clinic this February 10th - 12th at the Creative Arts Center in Morgantown. These students spent the first two days in rehearsals, as well as Saturday morning. The event culminated in a series of concerts in the Lyle B. Clay Concert Theatre, presented by the Gold Band, the Blue Band, and the Mountaineer Band. Students are nominated by their directors to participate in these honor bands. Each director may nominate up to 8 students. Through an audition process, students are selected to participate and then are placed in to three different ensembles. Knights Band members who were selected were: Aiden Swan (4th chair French Horn, Mountaineer Band), Makenzie Hakes (6th Chair French Horn, Mountaineer Band), Abbi Kimble (1st chair trombone, Gold Band), and Autumn Shepherd (1st Chair Clarinet, Gold Band).

It is officially the time of year for students to start applying for the MetaNu Scholarships and Wellness Rewards. All grade levels are eligible to enter and win! Senior Scholarship Award Details There will be 7 total winners. Scholarships will be a $1,000.00 check written to the individual winner. 1 of the 7 winners will receive a check for $2,000.00 to the individual who overall showed the greatest growth and qualities that MetaNu. exemplifies: Serving, Loving, Caring. Grand total of $8,000.00 in scholarships for the Senior Class of 2022. All are welcome to apply: College, Entrepreneurship, Trade School, Military, &/or Work Field. 6th - 11th Grade Wellness Reward Details There will be 2 winners per grade. Reward will be a $250.00 Visa Gift Card given to the individual winners. 12 total winners for $3,000.00 in Wellness Rewards. Please continue to participate in the MetaNu Program over the next 2-3 months. If you feel like you have not participated enough up to this point, you are still encouraged to apply and eligible to win. Let’s finish the year strong in participation and get rewarded for it!
