Congratulations to TCHS Band members: Hayden Montgomery, Rebecca Tenney, Luke Deaton, Aiden Swan, and Kaylee Haught on their performance tonight with the WV Region I Honor Band at Wheeling Park High School’s JB Chambers Performing Arts Center! These students joined the other top band students in the Northern Panhandle to put together five challenging pieces of music in less than a day under the direction of guest conductor Michael Knepper, Director of Bands at Musselman High School! Way to go! We're very proud of you! #KnightsPride

Last week during our professional development day our teachers became the learners. Several staff members participated in a training on "Building Thinking Classrooms" which provides instructional strategies that promote collaboration, critical thinking, and student engagement. Teachers used their mathematical skill sets to solve a thinking task! #KnightsPride

Prior to break Students from several TCHS science classes and the art honor society enjoyed a field trip to Pittsburgh on December 15 to visit some sites in the Oakland area of the city. Students on the trip included those in the biology classes of Mrs. Franks, Mr. Griffith, and Mr. Miglino, along with art students from the art honor society sponsored by Mrs. Stephens. Mr. Willhoite also went along as a chaperone.
The group had a tour of some of the Nationality Rooms at the Cathedral of Learning on the campus of Pitt University, followed by a look at the architecture of the Heinz Memorial Chapel. At the Carnegie Museum, science students had guided tours of the Natural History Museum, while art students explored works on the art side of the museum.
Science students in Mr. Griffith’s biology classes met with the Associate Curator of Botany, Dr. Mason Heberling, who gave them a tour of the back rooms of the Herbarium. He also showed them several preserved specimens that were collected from here in Tyler County more than 50 years ago.
The group then walked to the Phipps Conservatory, where they enjoyed the beauty of thousands of poinsettias and other flowers in the Winter Flower and Light Show. On the way home, to cap off a long but exciting day, the group made a stop at Sarris Ice Cream and candy.
