Today grades 9-11 listened to speeches from next year's class president candidates. Students will vote on class officers tomorrow! Good luck to all!

Concert season is here for the Tyler Consolidated Bands. Middle and High School Jazz Bands: Tuesday, May 7th High School Concert Band: Friday, May 10th Middle School Bands and Fifth Grade Band: Monday, May 13th. All concerts start at 7:00 in the auditorium.

Important reminder for students taking AP exams on Monday, May 6th. AP exams will be administered at the Tyler County Board of Education Office. Students, you should have been provided with all details last week about testing. If you have any questions, please email Mr. Morris.

Congratulations to the TCHS Concert and Jazz Bands for earning Superior ratings from both judges, 1st Place for both ensembles, and the highest scores of the event at the Dollywood Music in the Parks Festival in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. The bands’ first adjudicator was Fuller Lyon, the Associate Director of Athletic Bands at the University of Tennessee where he assists with the Pride of the Southland Marching Band, conducts the Symphonic Band, and teaches courses in Music Education. The other was Dr. John Zastoupil, the Director of Bands at the University of Tennessee. Here, he conducts the UT Wind Ensemble, teaches the graduate wind conducting studio, and provides the administrative leadership for all aspects of the University of Tennessee’s diverse and historic band program. Way to go, bands; outstanding job! You’ve represented your school and state extremely well!

Congratulations to Amos Kimble, Lily Dillaman and Katie Grimm for earning all LKC honors at tonight's LKC Championship meet. Congratulations to Amos Kimble and Tristen Tuttle for breaking their own school record tonight as well.

TCHS students listened to speeches from those running for Student Body President and Vice President. Those participating were Evan Crawford, Colby Nichols, Hailey Sandy, and Juliana Lattea. Best of luck to all!

Mr. Shepherd's Sports Medicine students had an amazing opportunity yesterday to tour the athletic facilities at WVU. It has been a great first year of our Sports Medicine program here at TCHS! Thank you, Mr. Shepherd!

Reminder: The TCHS National Honor Society induction ceremony will take place today, April 30th at 2:30pm. Doors will open for parents/guardians at 2:15pm. All parking must be in the bottom lots due to construction. You can enter through the exterior middle school stairs to the auditorium or through the main office if needed. Tomorrow morning we will be celebrating "Decision Day" for the class of 2024. We will be recognizing the next endeavors of our soon to be graduating seniors. The event will be live-streamed on our Facebook page as well. Please tune it at approximately 8:15am to celebrate the bright futures of the class of 2024!

   Students in biology classes with Mrs. Lori Franks, Mr. Joe Griffith, and Mr. Ryan Miglino traveled to Columbus, Ohio, earlier this week to visit several sites.     They began the day at the Franklin Park Conseratory where they enjoyed “Blooms and Butterflies.”  In addition to a great display of plants and flowers, the many butterflies flying freely in the Pacific Island Water Garden was a big attraction for the group. The Bonsai Collection, along with a large collection of Dale Chihuly glass artwork added to the beauty of the Conservatory.    In the afternoon, the group visited the Columbus Zoo, one of the premier zoos in the world. Always popular with visitors of any age is the chance to pet sting rays at Stingray Bay. Visiting the zoo’s collection of over 10,000 animals representing 600 species is always an amazing adventure, especially on a beautiful Spring day!     In the way home, the group stopped by the Longaberger Basket Building, which now stands empty.    A visit to Tom’s Ice Cream Bowl in Zanesville capped off the very educational and enjoyable day.

Congratulations to all TCHS students that were showcased at Arts Alive in Charleston! It was an impressive evening! The following students had visual artwork on display and represented Tyler County very well! Bella Garuccio, Jaden Williams, Carmyn Torres, Morgan Fisher, Donald Benefiel, Bridget Doak, Macie Highley, Cora Lough, Jahaila Gorrell, Josie Reed, and Eliana Winfrey.

Mr. Jones and Mrs. Jones took their class to Conaway Lake for the day today. On the trip our students put up tents, fished, cooked over a fire, loaded and unloaded Kayaks, and watched DNR stock the lake. It was a great day had by all. This opportunity would not have been possible without the Stealey Green Grant. The grant covered all the fishing license, food, fishing poles, fishing supplies, tents and life jackets. Thank you for taking us Roy Glover, it was a great day had by all.

Congratulations to Mr. Tucker on being named Tyler Consolidated High School Teacher of the Year! Mr. Tucker teaches Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus, Transitional Math, and facilitates WVU's College Algebra course at TCHS. Good luck to Mr. Tucker as he is now nominated for Tyler County Teacher of the Year!

Tristen Tuttle broke another school record. This time in the Shot Put with a throw of 50 feet 5 inches. Congratulations!!!!
